The aim is to conduct a full recce of the Chapman Valley and Putty area in preparation for future club 4WD adventures. This trip is for 8 Jeeps max.
This is a weekend camping trip with basecamp at Chapman Valley Farm which is approx. 7500 acres of working farmland including forest, creeks, steep hills and trails. These trails are available for guests to explore in 4WDs. although members wishing to join for the recce on Sunday only may do so if they prefer. Open to members, including offroad novices, with 4WD Jeeps with offroad-capable tyres as a minimum. For those wishing to camp over the weekend or in part, please book privately mentioning my name to keep us all together. Chapman Valley Horse Riding - Horse Riding Sydney Hunter Valley. Timings. Arrive and set up camp at Chapman Valley Farm campground (7054 Putty Road Howes Valley NSW 2330) at approx. 1600hrs Fri 27 Oct.
Sat 28 Oct. 0900 - 1600 Recce the Chapman Valley Farm 4WD trails, horse riding (bookable separately), walking and/or mountain biking.
Sun 29 Oct. 0900 - 1600 Meet at junction Putty Road/Putty Valley Road signposted to Putty (91Km north of Windsor). Recce of the Putty Rd Loop (which is Trek 9 in the Boiling Billy 4WD Treks Close To Sydney publication). This is approx. 110Kms fire trails with, as yet, unknown conditions.
Mon 30 Oct. 0900 Return home.
Comms. UHF Channel 15 (Club Channel). Comms check prior to all trips.
First Aid. All vehicles must carry first aid kits with participants knowledgeable on their use.
Resupply. This is a remote area. Ensure adequate fuel, water and food for the duration of participation are taken to the location. There are showers and toilets available adjacent to the owner’s office. There are no facilities for water resupply.
Waste Disposal. Pack it in – pack it all out.
